Pirates third baseman Jung Ho Kang was given a suspended eight-month prison sentence Thursday related to a DUI arrest in South Korea last year.
Kang, 29, was arrested Dec. 2 in Seoul with blood alcohol content Cheap Embroidered NFL Jerseys was 0.084 after crashing his car into a guard rail and fleeing the scene, police said.
It was his third such arrest since 2009.
Per terms of the sentence, delivered in Seoul Central District Court, Kang can avoid jail time if he keeps a clean record for the next two years.
As far as court proceedings are concerned, Kang will now be allowed to join the Pirates for spring training, though he may run into visa issues.
According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Kang could be asked to take a medical before he’s granted re-entry to the United States.
Major League Baseball has yet to take any action on Kang. It is possible he could face a suspension for his actions.
He is projected to start at third base for Pittsburgh.
It’s hard to grade the Dodgers right now, what with the giant vacancy at second base (there’s almost zero chance Hernandez, who hit .190 last season and has much more value as a versatile backup all over the field, is the full-time starter entering the season). The other three guys are really, really good. Gonzalez is the steady veteran, Turner is the uncovered gem and Seager is the rising superstar. If they add Twins second baseman Brian Dozier in a trade, as has been rumored for a while now, they’d be right up there with the Cubs and Indians.
