John Lynch details how he became 49ers GM, hints at structure for team’s future

I’ve always said life in the NFL is a roller coaster, and it’s a short distance from the penthouse to the outhouse (and back again).

Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff knows this all too well.

After posting winning seasons his first five years in Atlanta, including Reebok Cheap Jerseys four playoff appearances and two NFL executive of the year awards, Dimitroff saw his Falcons hit the skids in 2013 and ’14 with 4-12 and 6-10 records. Mike Smith was fired as coach, and the rumblings were that Dimitroff was on his way out, too.

But Dimitroff was given a reprieve by team owner Arthur Blank. Now, aided immensely by a great rapport with coach Dan Quinn and a career season from quarterback Matt Ryan, Dimitroff is headed to Super Bowl LI with his NFC champion Falcons just two years after he was clinging to his GM life.

How John Lynch went from FOX NFL analyst to 49ers general manager so rapidly and secretly was anybody’s guess until the 45-year-old explained for himself.

Lynch, who spent 15 seasons in the NFL as a safety for the Buccaneers and Broncos and was named All-Pro twice, opened up a little during his final FS1 appearance Monday. He mentioned how John Elway motivated him to pursue a career in management, for example, which planted the seed years ago.

But Lynch later Monday spilled the rest of the beans, adding to the specifics 49ers CEO The Best Cheap Jerseys Jed York already had revealed.

How did this happen so fast Isn’t a six-year contract a little hefty for somebody with no NFL front office experience What exactly will Lynch’s duties be in San Francisco Who exactly is his boss What’s his plan for the roster?
